GHL is committed to ensuring the safety of our employees, customers and any one else affected by our business activities. We recognise the legal duties by which our business is bound and will provide a safe working environment, safe work equipment and safe methods of work.

We therefore seek to conduct our business in a way that presents no risk of injury or ill health to our employees, suppliers, visitors or customers; nor gives rise to damage to our premises, equipment, materials or any other property as a result of accidents, fires or dangerous occurrences.

Optimal health and safety in the workplace is a process of continuous improvement and relies primarily on the systematic identification, assessment and control of hazards and risks, underpinned by awareness of the relevant legislative requirements.

GHL accepts the overall responsibility for safety. Nevertheless the success of this policy requires the involvement and commitment of everybody in the Group and strict compliance with the GHL Safety Management System. GHL's executive management team places a primary responsibility on line management to ensure the implementation and maintenance of health and safety controls and procedures.
The HSE department will periodically undertake risk assessments, make workplace inspections and ensure safety when specific tasks or work activities are carried out or to ensure safety in specific areas of the workplace.

Additionally, GHL will set objectives and targets, and measure and monitor their achievement through regular inspections, audits and the thorough investigation of accidents and incidents. We will seek to control or minimise identified risks through staff training, proper signage, improved safety equipment or personal protective equipment; the replacement of hazardous chemicals with less harmful alternatives; improved lighting or anti-slip flooring – to name some of our measures.

Every GHL employee has a legal obligation to co-operate in the day-to-day implementation of this policy and to take reasonable care for their own health and safety and the safety of other people who may be affected by their acts or omissions.

GHL will continue to conduct it affairs pursuant to the legislation in force in the countries in which we operate, ensuring within reason the health and safety of all persons that conduct their business on the company’s respective facilities.
