At Guardian we believe that promoting a positive lifestyle by involvement in sport can serve to curb rising crime rates in the Caribbean.
2011 will the Group’s ninth year of sponsorship of the Carifta Games, the premier IAAF sanctioned Caribbean track & field meet. The Games are rotated among the Caribbean territories. As with all major sponsorships, GHL personnel are actively involved in the planning of the event.

The IAAF has long considered CARIFTA to be the premier junior track and field event in the Caribbean. It’s been staged without fail every Easter in a different Caribbean territory. In 2010 some 26 countries sent eager young athletes to the Cayman Islands, all in a bid to become perhaps another Usain Bolt, whose talents first shone through on a CARIFTA stage.

The Guardian Holdings Group (GHL) has been a regional partner with NACAC and the relevant Local Organising Committee (LOC) since 2003 and believes that regional events such as these help to build stronger communities promote positive, healthy lifestyles and foster cultural understanding across the English, French and Dutch territories.
