Dragon Boat racing is a relatively new sport to Trinidad and Tobago. It was introduced in 2006 to commemorate the arrival of the Chinese to Trinidad. Back in 2006 GHL also became one of the first group of sponsors of dragon boat racing in Trinidad & Tobago in appreciation and praise of the characteristics of great dragon boat paddlers: synchronization, strength and discipline.   In 2008, the company went a step further by becoming the title sponsor the Independence Day Charity Regatta.  

We are especially proud of Guardian Oarstruck, our own dragon boat team. The team is made up of employees, family and friends and lay claim to several achievements over the last few years. In 2010 for instance, the team placed 1st in Division B – Chinese Regatta (triple 10) and 3rd in Division A – GHL Independence day Regatta. The team intends to soon gain further exposure and experience by participating in regattas outside of the region.
