GHL and Max Murphy Centre Support Chaguanas Community |
Guardian Holdings Limited has contributed One Hundred Thousand Dollars to aid in the construction of the Max Murphy Centre in Chaguanas. Mr. Gerard Pinard, Group Vice President, Corporate Resources presented members of the building committee with a cheque representing GHL's sponsorship. Mr. Pinard expressed GHL's pleasure in its association with such an initiative, which is aligned with the group's ethos and social responsibility commitment.
Fr. Max Murphy was well known within the Chaguanas district for encouraging intellectual and community development there. Today, a Centre is being constructed in Chaguramas in his name to provide critical services such as family support, counseling, youth development, medical and legal services as well as support for the aged and handicapped. Ongoing orientation programmes through seminars, workshops and lectures will further aid in developing literacy and provide access to the internet. Although the facility is being constructed on the grounds of the Catholic Church, everyone regardless of age, religion or ethnicity is welcome to use the services provided.
