In an effort to maintain the Health, Safety and Security (HSS) of all staff, Guardian Holdings is striving to include HSS issues as part of all events and functions. Reza Ali is the Business Continuity Planning Coordinator, and sends regular updates to staff, regarding emergency procedures for events and what-to-do for disasters, such as earthquakes. Tremors that shook the country in December, with a magnitude between 5.0 and 5.4 on the Richter scale made all aware of the importance of developing business continuity processes and recovery plans in the event of.
Since the formation of the BCP team and the start of the Operation Solidarity drive, there has been a bit of excitement in the form of 'healthy' competitions amongst departments, in varying categories. The unannounced visit from an emergency warden (or two), would keep staff on their p's and q's, asking where the nearest fire extinguisher is, or where the nearest exit is.
The categories determining the final score include Housekeeping, Electrical Safety, Fire Safety, Emergency Preparedness and Security Awareness. The first round of competition awarded some 80+ members of staff, including the Executive floor, Records Management, Model Office, New Business, Guardian Asset Management and Corporate Communications. The winning teams were commended by GLOC President Douglas Camacho, who was very pleased at the enthusiasm shown within departments, and subsequently invited all the winners to dip into a bran tub bin for a well-deserved prize.
