Steven Martina new chairman of Fatum's board of managing directors

Willemstad- Drs. Ing. Ivan Steve Martina, current President & CEO of
Aqualectra, Curaçao’s water and power supply company, will join FATUM as chair
of its Board of Managing Directors from 1st June 2006. Mr. Martina is currently
a member of the Supervisory Board of Directors of FATUM.
Steven Martina, as he is more familiarly known, is a native of Curaçao and is
recognized as the architect of Aqualectra’s strategic Utility Plan 2020, a
visionary road map of reform and integration for the water and electricity
production and distribution companies. A speaker of five languages, he has
considerable local and international experience from a career in management and
consulting. He currently serves on the board of CARILEC, an association of
independent electric utilities in the Caribbean.
Arthur Lok Jack, Chairman of Guardian Holdings Limited, FATUM’s parent company,
sees local expertise being increasingly instrumental in the development of an
even stronger FATUM in the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba. He noted that Mr.
Martina picks up the FATUM leadership in a challenging time for the insurance
industry locally. The Dutch Caribbean communities can therefore look forward to
a FATUM that capitalizes both on its heritage of over 100 years and on the
strength of belonging to the GHL Group.
Mr Martina will take over from Mr Dick Schmitz who retires on 30th June 2006.
Mr. Lok Jack thanked Mr. Dick Schmitz, FATUM’s present Chief Executive Officer,
for his guidance and leadership over the years.
