Guardian Holdings Limited responded to the plight of the boys of Credo
Foundation, whose building was destroyed by fire earlier this year, and
staged an Independence Day Dragon Boat Regatta in partnership with the
Trinidad & Tobago Dragon Boat Federation, with the aim of raising national
awareness of socially displaced children while assisting in making the lives
of these children more comfortable and secure.
A total of ten teams, all of whom had to make a charitable contribution,
participated in this first-time ever event. Sr. Roberta O’Flaherty, Credo’s
Executive Director, noted that the cost of providing children with their
many needs has risen dramatically during the past year and put a
considerable strain on Credo’s financial resources. She said: ‘GHL’s
willingness to partner with us in our work with socially displaced children,
not only helps us financially, but also gives us much-needed support and
energy to keep going when times are tough. I thank sincerely Guardian
Holdings Limited and the participating teams’.
The total amount of Forty Thousand, Eight Hundred and Twenty-Nine Dollars
and forty cents ($40,829.40) was donated via United Way of Trinidad & Tobago
and added to its pool of $60,000 already collected.
